Ls To Ps
Navigating the journey from your Learner’s permit to your Probationary license can feel overwhelming. We make it straightforward. Our structured Ls to Ps program is designed to transform you from a supervised learner into an independent driver, fully prepared for the VicRoads test.
Aria Driving School provides focused, professional instruction that builds essential skills and test-day confidence. You’ll master vehicle control, hazard perception, and all the specific maneuvers required to pass. No rushing. No unnecessary pressure. Just clear guidance to help you pass and drive independently.
What We Offer in The Aria Ls to Ps Program
Getting your Probationary license is a significant milestone. It requires practising hours and proven skills. Our Ls to Ps program is your direct route to success. We eliminate the guesswork. We deliver a structured license conversion course tailored to VicRoads standards.
Our program is designed to systematically bridge the gap between learner and probationary driver. You will learn, practice, and master every requirement.
Our program focuses on three core pillars to ensure you are fully prepared:
Advanced Skill
Move beyond basic driving. We focus on advanced vehicle control, defensive driving techniques, and mastering complex maneuvers like reverse parallel parking and three-point turns, skills essential for passing.
Test Simulation
Beat test anxiety through practice. You will undergo mock Hazard Perception Tests (HPT) and experience full drive test simulations on actual local test routes, so nothing surprises you on the day.
Logbook & Administrative Guidance
We help you accurately complete your 120 supervised driving hours and understand all VicRoads procedures, ensuring your paperwork is perfect.
Our Commitment to Effective Learning
We offer flexible booking for 2-hour, 5-hour, or 10-hour lesson packages to match your needs and goals.
Your training takes place in our modern, dual-control vehicles, ensuring safety as you learn. You will be taught by our VicRoads-accredited instructors who know the local test criteria inside and out.
Stop wondering if you’re ready. Let us make sure you are.
Who Needs Ls to Ps Services?
Any learner driver can benefit from our structured guidance; Ls to Ps support programs are especially valuable for the following groups:
Learners Without Supervised Driving Support
If you do not have access to a fully licensed supervising driver or a safe, roadworthy vehicle, Ls to Ps services can handle all these issues. Programs such as L2P provide access to mentors and vehicles, helping you complete your required hours legally.
Learners Struggling to Reach 120 Hours
Many learners find it difficult to complete the mandatory 120 supervised hours. Professional lessons can accelerate your progress. This helps you gain confidence faster and log meaningful hours.
Nervous or Neurodivergent Drivers
Those who experience driving anxiety, sensory challenges, or need a more structured learning approach can benefit from specialised instruction that can provide calm, patient, and clear guidance. The right support can improve focus, decision-making, and overall confidence behind the wheel.
Overseas Licence Holders Preparing for a Victorian Test
If you already know how to drive but need to convert your licence or pass a Victorian driving test, Ls to Ps services help you adjust to local road rules and testing standards. Particularly, this is important for unlearning habits that may not align with Australian road regulations.
The Difference between L’s vs P’s
Before starting your journey, it's helpful to understand the destination. In Victoria, the path to a full license uses a graduated system. Knowing the rules for each stage sets you up for success.
What are Ls (Learner Permit)?
Your Learner Permit, or L plates, is where every new driver starts. It’s designed for learning in a safe, controlled way.
- You must always drive with a fully licensed supervisor beside you.
- Your blood alcohol concentration must be zero.
- You must display L plates clearly on the front and back of the vehicle.
- You cannot use a mobile phone while driving, even hands-free.
- You must complete a minimum of 120 hours of supervised driving practice, including 20 hours of night driving, before you can book your probationary tests.
What are Ps (Probationary License)?
Earning your P plates is a major achievement. It grants you independence but comes with important responsibilities during a two-stage probationary period.
- P1 (Red Plates): This first stage lasts for 12 months. You drive solo but with restrictions like carrying only one passenger aged 16-21, a zero-alcohol limit, and no mobile phone use.
- P2 (Green Plates): This stage lasts for 36 months. Some restrictions ease, but you must maintain a zero-alcohol limit and cannot use a mobile phone.
- Never Overspeed

April 9, 2025Aria is truly the best in the business when it comes to driving lessons. Before him, I could barely get behind the wheel - but by the end of our first lesson I was already steering my way down main roads, and am now a confident and safe driver. Over the course of a month I had biweekly lessons with Aria, and by October 1st I passed my driving test on the very first try. Aria’s knowledge is quite literally incomparable when it comes to driving, along with his endless patience and compassion for students. I cannot put into words how much I recommend this service to anyone and everyone looking to drive!!!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Yes, learner drivers can usually drive at night, but you must follow your state’s rules. It’s a great way to gain experience, but it’s safer to practise with an experienced supervisor until you’re confident.
Rules vary between Australian states. If you move interstate, you may need to convert your licence and follow that state’s Ls to Ps rules.
Yes, but your test will be limited to the type of car you choose. If you take your test in an automatic, your licence may only allow you to drive automatic cars unless you also pass a manual test.
Most learners find hazard perception and judgment in complex situations to be the greatest challenges. This isn't just about technical skill, but about learning to anticipate other road users' actions, manage safe gaps in traffic, and make calm, timely decisions. Specific manoeuvres like reverse parallel parking or navigating multi-lane roundabouts are also common hurdles.
Yes. All vehicles used in our training and available for the test are modern, fully roadworthy, and meet all VicRoads requirements for the driving test, including having a handbrake accessible to the instructor/examiner.
Absolutely. A key part of our instruction is ensuring your logbook entries are accurate and compliant. We teach you what constitutes valid practice and can review your logbook to help avoid errors that could cause delays.
This is a common question. For substantive progress, longer sessions are fundamentally more effective. A 2-hour lesson provides the necessary time to move from basic drills to integrated, real-world application. It allows for thorough practice of complex maneuvers like parallel parking and builds the driving stamina needed for the full test duration. Compared to a one-hour lesson, you gain deeper, more consolidated learning each session.
