International Driver’s Licence Conversion Requirements
First of all, you must hold a valid overseas driver’s licence. The licence should not have expired, been suspended, or cancelled.
If your licence is not written in English, you’ll need to provide an International Driving Permit (IDP) or an approved English translation, such as a NAATI translation.
Eligibility and Age Requirements
You must also meet the minimum age requirements for the licence you are applying for. In most states, you need to be at least 18 years old to hold a full Australian driver’s licence.
Proof of identity and residency is another key requirement. This usually includes:

- A valid visa
- Proof of your current Australian address
Some drivers may be required to provide a medical certificate, especially if they have a medical condition that could affect their driving.
